Royal Blue

An indigenous pioneer grass to Africa. A sward forming perennial, spreading by stolons and scaly rhizomes. The stolons branch profusely, rooting at the nodes from which leafy shoots and numerous culms arise. Flowers from September to May.

Inflorescence: 3-7 slender racemes are arranged digitally in one whorl, spikes are straight, or curved slightly; coloured purple, purple-brown or green.

Leaves: Blue-green; blade is flat with sharply pointed tips and can be smooth or hairy.

Ligule: Either a fringe of hairs or a fringe membrane.
