Country Club
Country Club (Paspalum vaginatum) is indigenous to South Africa and is found in river estuaries - the SUPERLAWN strain comes from the Umgeni River mouth. It is a mat-forming perennial, which creeps by rhizomes and stolons. It forms a bright green sward under ideal conditions. It flowers from December to April.
Inflorescence: One pair of spike-like racemes (v-shaped). Leaf: Bright green and almost glabrous, blade is flat, but folds readily into a conspicuous boat-shaped leaf tip.
Rhizomes: Often extensive, with stolons creeping far below surface in sand, they are many noded, rather slender and tough.
