Planting

It is recommended that the plugs are watered in the trays or floated on a pond or reservoir before planting. Press 6cm deep holes in the prepared soil using a suitable dibble stick at 200mm centers.

Drop the plugs into the holes, ensuring that the plugs are vertical and that the top of the growing medium is level with, and not proud of, the ground (see the illustration below). The plugs, once placed in the plug holes, must be pressed down firmly with a finger or foot, eliminating air pockets. This should be followed by a light rolling. Water the area thoroughly, until field saturation is reached.
